It’s the day that analog TV was to fade way. But no…
All of the major network Evansville stations were all set to pull the plug on their old transmitters and enter the digital-only age. But WEHT is either unready or unwilling to make the change on-time. So the other stations (WEVV, WFIE, WTVW) were left with the decision to move ahead and turn down their analog xmtrs, but chance the loss 10-15 percent of their audience (which would default to the only full-power analog station, WEHT)… or wait until the new D-Day of June 12th and have all stations suffer the same fate at the same time.

WAZE, the local CW affiliate owned by Roberts Broadcasting, has closed its Evansville office. Employees were given their final checks last week and asked to leave.
The station will continue to broadcast locally from the centralized Roberts master control facilities in Missouri. The Evansville office had been primarily for the purposes of commercial sales and production.

Apparently the character generator at News25 has lost all connection with Noah Webster’s language.
So I’m watching a story about local inauguration festivities on News25 Monday, only to find out that an event is being held at a “Nazarine” church. Ok, fine. A misspelling. It happens. Even at a Nazarene church.

As part of the run-up to the analog TV shutdown in next month, four Evansville stations will again be alerting analog viewers of the shutdown by interrupting analog programming at 6:30pm. The stations participating are WEHT, WEVV, WFIE, and WTVW. (WAZE is not participating again.) The test will last for five minutes.

A last minute agreement was reached late Wednesday night between Dish Network and ComCorp of America that will keep all of its stations (including WEVV in Evansville) on the satellite programming provider for the forseeable future. Details of the agreement have not (and presumably will not) be released, but it’s safe to assume that ComCorp is getting at least part of its ‘two cents’ per subscriber.
